Pecka castle

Pecka castle, obrázek se otevře v novém okněThe castle was built in the early 14th century and it is the main attraction in the area. The visitors will be acquainted with the most significant owner – Kryston Harant (nobel man who was executed on Old Town Square in Prague in 1621).Next to the exposition of the historical events of the castle and town of Pecka visitors will be able to see also a torture chamber. In 1830 the castle was destroyed by fire. The gallery of modern sculpture art has its display in recentlyrenovated cellars.

  • April, September : Saturday, Sunday 9.00 - 12.00 and 13.00 - 16.00
  • May - August: Daily 9.00 - 12.00 and 13.00 - 17.00
  • Mondays – closed .
  • October: Saturdays, Sundays 9.00 - 12.00 and 13.00 - 16.00

Chateau Kuks

Chateau Kuks, obrázek se otevře v novém okněThis historical landmark is still admired by domestic and foreign visitors. Kuks beautiful decoration was created by a lot of artists. The most famous is Matyas Bernard Brown who took charge of a sculptural decoration in 1712. The most important are two rows of statues (always 12 figures) representing VIRTUE and DEPRAVITY. Another significant architectural reminder is a church in shape of an unequal angle octagon. Kuks is the most extensive baroque complex in Bohemia. The complex was built by count Frantisek Antonin Spork in 1695 to be used as a spa. The church, monastery and sculptural decoration on the right bank of the Elbe river has been preserved till now days. A bath house on the left bank side perished 100 years ago. A glory of the place declined after count Spork passed away and also after a big flood which had destroyed a majority part of |Spas in 1740. The original tavern Golden sun ( U zlateho slunce) from 1699 is operating till now days. It was used as a school from 1874 till 1996. You can find statues of David and Goliath from M.B.Brown in front of the tavern.

The Nativity scene

The Nativity scene, obrázek se otevře v novém okněFrom 1723 – 1732 one of the most significant groups of the baroque sculptures in the Central Europe was created (near by Kuks). The author of the sculpture was M.B.Brown.

Miletín castle

The baroque castle was built in the same place as the original water castle. It is surrounded by a large park. Present-day it is closed for public and it was returned to the original owner.

Chateau Bílé Poličany

Chateau Bílé Poličany, obrázek se otevře v novém okněBile Policany is situated in the valley of the Trotinka stream 294 m above the sea level. The first mention is from 1271. Originally there were two fortresses. Upper renaissance fortress was rebuilt into chateau which is surrounded by English park. Lower fortress was not preserved. The chateau is not open for public is it used as a recreation centre.

Chateau Jeřice

The baroque chateau arose from the original fortress and the first mention about the castle is from 1379. Present-day the chateau is used as an archive and it is not opened for public.

Chateau Hořice

Two-story building with emblem of the Strozzi clan above the entry way was built on the exact place as the original fortress was in 15th century. Its cellars are preserved till today. After a fire in 1749 fortress was reconstructed into a chateau which is used now as offices. It is not open for public. There is a functional sundial on the south wall on the left side from the entrance way.

Chateau Lázně Bělohrad

Chateau Lázně Bělohrad, obrázek se otevře v novém okněThe original renaissance building from the 16th century was rebuilt by B.Vilem from Valdstejn in 1720. In an entrance way there is a chapel with monumental altar. The chateau is surrounded by park. Present- day is not open for public it is used as a boarding house.

Chateau Holovousy

Chateau Holovousy, obrázek se otevře v novém okněThe original baroque chateau rebuilt by J.Vejrych in secession style in 1906-1907. Component parts of an extensive park (1.5 ha ) are two baroque sculptures (1. Four seasons from 1751, 2. John Nepomuk from 1732). You can find over 20 kinds of a coniferous trees and 66 kinds of a leafy trees in the park. Since 18th century quality apple – ( “Holovousky malinac”). Chateau area is used now by Research breeding institute of pomology.

Chateau Bílá Třemešná

The original fortress was rebuilt by Adam Zilvar from Pilnikov. Jan Amos Komensky was hiding here with his Czech brothers (1626-1628).

Castle Ostroměř

There used to be a castle in the middle ages. Now days we can find just remainders of a ditch and ramparts.
